Harold meets his roommate in a most unusual way, tied up and gagged in his own closet by Shelton and his cronies. He soon become friends with Andy, and the two are frequently picked on and punished by Shelton, for "being out of line".
Later on, he witnesses Chucky murdering Sergeant Botnick and runs away. He decides not to tell Andy, even when he tells him that he knows of Chucky, most likely out of fear of what would happen if he told.
At the war games, Sheldon is shot and killed with a paintball gun tampered by Chucky. As the group argue, Chucky throws a grenade at them. Harold is the only one to see this, and sacrifices himself by jumping onto the grenade to save them. His death leaves members of both teams horrified (and Ivers heartbroken, suggesting a possible relationship between them).
